Summer 2008 Classes
Beads by the
Bay Classes!

General policies and information: A supply list will be provided when you sign
up for a class. Class fees must be paid in full prior to the class. Pay with cash or checks made out to the teacher of the
class. We may be able to credit you for missed classes. Ask about our cancellation policy! Most classes will run with a minimum
of three and a maximum of six students.
Beginning Wire Wrap $40.00 Sunday July 20, 2-5pm
Teacher: Karen Martin Skill Level: Beginning You will make learn how to wire wrap a tumbled stone or nugget using copper wire
or craft wire. This class will help you hang those special stones that you find on the beach or at the shop that you would
like to attach to a chain or necklace! Space is limited to 6 people-sign up early!
Beaded Cabochon
$30.00 Tuesday July 22, 5-8pm Teacher: Susan Skill Level: Some experience with seed beads is helpful. Turn a flat backed stone
or glass cabochon into a beautiful beaded pendant! This is one of Kandra's patterns. You will stitch around the cabochon
to frame it on a piece of ultrasuede, then peyote stitch up around the cab to hold it in place. Once you get this one down,
variations will be easy to learn.
Kandra's Lattice Lace Pouch $35.00 Sunday July 27, 1-5pm
Teacher: Lily Skill Level: All-some experience with seed beads is helpful! Kandra's little bag with the ruffled top is
a legend in SLO county! Once you learn the technique, you can make endless variations in the design. This is a good way to
learn basic netting with beads.
Spiral Rope $25.00 Tuesday July 29, 5-8pm Teacher: Susan or
Georgiana Knopf Skill Level: All Spiral rope is a simple and beautiful seed bead pattern with many variations. Use it to make
beautiful necklaces for your beaded cabochons or wire wrapped stones!
Herringbone Rope $25.00
Saturday August 2, 10am-12:30pm Teacher: Lily Skill Level: All Herringbone is another beautiful rope that can be done as a
spiral or even weave.
Intermediate Wire Wrap $40.00 Sunday August 3, 2-5pm Teacher: Karen Martin
Skill Level: Beginning to intermediate-experience with tools is helpful! This class will use square and half round silver
wire to make an elegant wrapped bezel for a flat backed cabochon. It is very different that the wrapped nugget-you will want
to know how to do this one! Space is limited to 6 people-sign up early!
Focal Bead Necklace
$25.00 Tuesday August 5, 5-8pm Teacher: Susan Skill Level: All Take a beautiful focal piece like one of Jenny Friske-Baer's
handmade glass beads and turn it into the inspiration for a unique necklace. You will learn to turn a bead into a pendant
using an eye pin and chain to make dangles. We will help you chose beads that enhance your focal bead, and show you all the
tricks and tips to a professional looking finish. This class will help you develop your sense of color and design, and show
you that everyone has inspiration!
Beaded Face $35.00 Sunday August 10, 1-5 Teacher: Lily Skill
Level: Some experience with seed beads is helpful. Similar to the beaded cabochon, but with one of Kandra's round faces
as the focus. Lily turns these little moon-faces into delightful necklaces, and embellishes them with crystals or fringey
"hair"!
Creative Earrings Tuesday August 12, 5-8pm $25.00 Teacher: Helen Edwards Skill
Level: Beginning, some experience with tools is helpful. Helen makes some of the most creative earrings around! Learn to make
her dancing girl earrings, or have her show you how she layers stones and charms to add movement and flare to your ear lobes!
Prayer Beads for Healing $25.00 Sunday August 17, 1-4pm Teacher: Penny Many of our great religions
and spiritual paths have found comfort in beads, and used them to focus the mind on higher and purer thoughts. In a meditative
process, create a necklace, bracelet or just a strand of special beads for someone who needs healing energy. will bring comfort
and good energy to the person.
Netted Donut Stone $30.00 Tuesday August 19, 5-8pm Teacher: Susan
Skill Level: Beginning, some experience with seed beads is helpful. Let the beauty of the donut stone shine through this simple
beaded netting! Netting around a donut allows you to hang the donut with creativity. You can add fringe or not. The netting
is similar to the Christmas ornament we made last year. Netting is a good technique to learn-you can cover anything with it!
Daisy Chains! $25.00 Saturday August 23, 10-12:30 Teacher: Lily Skill Level: Beginner Daisy
chains have really matured since the 60's and 70's! Learn the basic formula, and try some variations. Daisy chains
are really a form of bead weaving. When you change colors and sizes of beads you can create spectacular lacey looking designs!

Don't see the class you want? Ask for it! Get a group of friends together, and we will arrange for a date, time, and teacher
and hold it for you. We can also help you plan parties or small group gatherings in our classroom. If you would like to hold
your own group, we ask for a facilities fee of $5 per person for two hours. Don't be shy-we are flexible!
